WHAT IS AN AMBASSADOR?

As you know, being a child sponsor is an exciting and rewarding experience; you know that you're making a real change in a child's life. But do you ever wish you could do more? Do you want to shout about the wonderful changes you've seen and help others to experience it too? If so, we’d love you to be part of our team.

Our team of Ambassadors are passionate child sponsors, just like you, who volunteer to share their first-hand experience of sponsoring a child, inspiring others to help the world’s most vulnerable children. If you are not currently a child sponsor and would still like to hear more about the Ambassador programme, then please fill in our form and we will be in touch.

Our team of Ambassadors live across the UK and have a range of experience with us, from long-term sponsors, to staff and former colleagues who now choose to volunteer their time to promote our work and inspire others.

As an Ambassador you would give talks to groups or organisations. Whether a large or small group there can be many found in your local area. You will also enjoy speaking with people in your network on a one-to-one basis. You would also represent World Vision at events, share and promote our messages on social media and take part in campaigns throughout the year. If you are a Christian supporter there will be opportunities to speak at Churches throughout the country too. You would be given specific training for this.

These have been very warm and heartfelt occasions and have given me the opportunity to meet many lovely people.

You will be a valued part of our World Vision team, and we make sure you have a full induction and our specialist training before starting. In addition, we’re always delighted to arrange visits for Ambassadors who’d like to meet their sponsored children. You would have ongoing support, you will also have us here to provide resources and answer questions.

MEET THE AMBASSADORS

Sue Tinney

Long-time sponsor Sue, was one of the first to join our Ambassadors team. Sue's inspired many others in her area, as well as taking part in events in Parliament and has even visited her sponsored child.

Because I am passionate about World Vision and sponsoring I don't find it difficult to speak to individual people about World Vision's work and if you have the passion too, you will be surprised how easy it is to drop it into a conversation. Be natural, be yourself and you will find it works.

Lady Louisa Collings

Louisa is a World Vision Ambassador and child sponsor. In 2015, she travelled to Uganda to meet Catherine, her sponsored child.

Through our sponsor visit, Catherine was no longer just a photo on our kitchen wall.  We could see and understand what her life is really like.  Child sponsorship came to life! It was a moving experience which enabled us to form a special bond with the family and has enriched our lives.

It was really great to see Garik again. He grows in confidence each time I have seen him. I know he and his community have benefited so much from the work of World Vision Alaverdi.

Geoff Cannell

Geoff is an Ambassador and fundraiser. As well as inspiring new supporters with his talks, Geoff's raising money for our work with Syrian refugee children. His fundraising challenges so far include abseiling down the Spinnaker Tower, cycling from London to Brighton and scaling Snowdon.

[After] attending the meeting with MPs in April 2016 I was incredibly moved by the stories of hardship and suffering being endured by the children who have fled the war in Syria. I came away wanting to do something of practical value and decided that I would set myself a series of physical challenges as a platform for fundraising and to tell people about the work that World Vision is undertaking.
