Pray for Pinky

Pinky, 7, lives with her parents and siblings in Bhojpur ADP. Pinky struggles with a rare heart illness that makes her life difficult. The condition has really affected Pinky as she is weak and frail.

Even talking is at times a task for her as she struggles to catch her breath. Pinky likes to play with her friends but she is not able to most of the time. She shares, “I watch other children play and want to join but can’t. The only games I can play are the ones where I don’t have to move much.”

When Pinky was 6 months old her parents noticed something was wrong. Her mum, Rita, explained, “She cried continuously for days and then she would faint regularly. We were worried and did not know what was happening to her. We took her to the nearby hospital.  We were told that her heart wasn’t properly developed. It has a hole and this means that oxygen was not circulating properly in her body. This came as a severe blow to us. We did not know if she would live or not.

“Pinky was prescribed medication and she started to improve. However, after a year things took an unfortunate turn and Pinky started reacting to the medication. She would vomit and become ill frequently so we stopped giving it to her. Now we do not know what else we can do but pray.” Pinky needs an operation but there is way the family can afford it. It will cost five times their annual income.

Pinky shared, “I like going to school as learning is fun. But I fear that I might collapse on my way to school or home when I am alone and nobody would help me. This has happened a few times. I had to stop going to school because my teachers and parents do not want anything to happen to me.”

Pinky now goes to a Learning Centre where we offer catch up lessons for children who are not able to go to school. “World Vision has helped me to be able to go to a learning centre near my home. I meet and learn with other children from my area. My parents drop me off and pick me up for lessons. I am happy that I am learning. I am hopeful things will get better one day and I will be able to run and play with other children in my neighbourhood.”

Please pray for Pinky that she will one day be able to play and run with other children, as she dreams. Pray for her parents, for strength and continued love as they care for Pinky. We thank God that through your help, we are able to offer a place for Pinky to learn alongside other children.

Prayers for Bhojpur

Sunny aged 9 years fractured his hand while playing. His hand was put into a cast and he was put on medication. However, he is still suffering with serious pain, which is affecting his life and his schooling. He tries to go to school and do the best he can.

He has a brother and a sister and his parents are farm labourers. They are a poor family. Please pray for healing for Sunny so he is free from pain and can get back to his normal life.

Bablu, aged 11 years, cannot walk or move about without assistance. This was a result of polio. The illness affected him so badly that he cannot do anything without his family’s help.

He has two brothers and one sister and his parents are also farm labourers who do not earn much. Please pray for Bablu, that he will know God’s comfort and he will be able to fulfil his potential.

Lawkush, aged 11 years, is suffering with kidney stones. Even though he is doing his best to go to school regularly, he is struggling. He has 3 brothers and their parents are poor farm labourers. He is having treatment but this hasn’t helped very much so far. Please pray Lawkush will get better quickly.

Please pray for the communities in flood prone area. Last year there was heavy flooding in our area which impacted very badly on food security and left many families struggling to feed their children.

We thank God for our child sponsors and other donors who partner with us to support and care for children and their families. We ask God to bless them and we thank them for changing fear into hope.

Prayers for Patna

Satyam, 11, Aditya, 7, and Uttam, 13, are just a few of the children who’ve been severely affected by flooding due to exceptionally heavy rain.

Their homes and many others in the community were submerged in floodwater and have been badly damaged. Roads were also flooded and the children could not go to school. Schools were closed as well.

Families are doing their best to repair their houses and get back to normal. This is particularly difficult as those most affected are from the very poor communities.

Please pray that the government take necessary steps to clear the water logging and put proper drainage in place so that our communities do not suffer so severely in the future.

We thank God for our child sponsors and other donors who partner with us to support and care for children and their families. We ask God to bless them and we thank them for changing fear into hope.

Prayers for Vaishali

Arun is 15 years old and fractured his right leg while playing cricket with friends. His family is poor and cannot afford the medical treatment he needs for him to heal.

Arun has two brothers and one sister. They live in very precarious conditions. Their house is made up of mud and brick without a proper roof. His father is a small-holding farmer and the family struggle to make ends meets.

Please pray that Arun’s family find the money to get him proper medical attention so he can be healed. Pray that the father can find work that can give him a good income so that he can support his family.

Neha is 9 years old and suffers from depression. Her father died in 2014 and her mother has chronic asthma. Neha has five sisters and one brother. The family has no regular source of income; their mother and children do laundry work for better off families to support themselves.

Please pray for healing for Neha and a better life for the family. May they get the help that they need so they can live a more comfortable life and have enough food.

Some of our communities lack proper, adequate sanitation, clean drinking water and water for washing. Please pray that the government and other stakeholders help these communities by providing them with adequate sanitation facilities and clean water so they can stay healthy.

We thank God for our child sponsors and other donors who partner with us to support and care for children and their families. We ask God to bless them and we thank them for changing fear into hope.
