New PM must continue Britain's proud legacy of global leadership for children
Reacting to news that Theresa May will become the next leader of the Conservative Party and Prime Minister of Britain, Peter Keegan, World Vision UK’s Government Relations Manager, said:
“As she takes the top job, we urge Theresa May to continue Britain's proud legacy of global leadership for the benefit of children –whether that’s championing the Sustainable Development Goals, committing to 0.7, rallying global support for Syria, or pressing for an end to child marriage.
"While Mrs May was at the Home Office, her team worked closely with the Department for International Development to address child marriage both in Britain and around the world. That's the type of leadership we need to see, along with a continued and progressive commitment to global development issues in some of the world's toughest countries."
