INDONESIA EARTHQUAKE AND TSUNAMI
On 28 September, an earthquake measuring 7.6 on the Richter scale hit the Indonesian island of Sulawesi, causing a tsunami. Reports suggest that over 200,000 people are in urgent need of clean water, food and shelter. More than 2,000 deaths have been reported so far and this is likely to rise.
We are already on the ground assessing the impact of the disaster and the best ways to respond. We are handing out hygiene and shelter kits and setting up water points and emergency toilet facilities, but we urgently need your help to continue our work.
Roads and buildings have been badly damaged, and power and communication lines are still down in many areas. With new areas of damage being continually found, we are concerned that the situation will only worsen.
We are committed to providing a sustainable response and working with the Indonesian community not just in the initial aftermath, but also helping them to rebuild their futures. We can’t do this without your help.
Please donate today so we can continue to scale our work with those in desperate need.
Pray for Indonesia
We are praying for every one of the hundreds of thousands of people suffering in this terrible tragedy. For those who have lost loved ones or are searching for missing family and friends. For those in desperate need of food, clean water, medicine and shelter. We pray too for the relief workers working night and day to reach and help victims of the earthquake and tsunami. We would welcome your prayers.
