Armando's life in Albania
Armando’s daily needs:
In Shkodra, children like Armando don’t feel safe and are afraid of being abused. School isn’t a welcoming place, so children struggle to feel involved.
- Children struggle to learn in school, as teachers are poorly trained.
- Children with disabilities don’t have the chance to go to school.
- Many children live in fear of violence and abuse.
Your sponsorship can change Armando's world, and his community, for good.
How Sponsorship Helps
How sponsorship works
When you sponsor a child for £26 a month it brings much needed change to one child… and many more. The benefits you help provide, extend to your child's family, their community and other children in need. This is because we partner, plan and work alongside local community members to help build healthy, sustainable communities for vulnerable children in the world’s hardest places.
What will your donation actually change?
Because of our community-focused solutions, for every child you help, four more children benefit, too. Depending on the priority needs in your child’s community, as a sponsor you will be improving lives by providing:
Create lasting change
When you sponsor a child, you transform their life by helping to create lasting changes for their entire community
We work with whole communities to understand what they need.
We then work together to plan and deliver the changes that will make life better for them and their children - now and always.
Why choose World Vision?
We are the world’s largest international children’s charity, working to bring real hope to millions of children in the world’s hardest places.

Why sponsor a child in Uganda?
The vast majority of Ugandans work in agriculture, but almost 20% of families are living in poverty. The country is recovering from years of conflict and the terrible affects it's had on the lives of many children. Unemployment, child poverty and disease are sadly rife.
Child sponsorship in Uganda: the facts
• 6.5% of the Ugandan population are either HIV positive or are living with AIDS.
• During the civil war an estimated 25,000 children were kidnapped by the rebel group the Lord’s Resistance Army. They were forced to be labourers, frontline soldiers and many were sexually exploited. It will take time for them to recover and rebuild their lives.
World Vision has been working in Uganda since 1972.
Our key achievements so far have included:
• improving access to primary education,
• healthcare and nutrition training for mothers and caregivers,
• reducing the spread of malaria and of HIV.
We're also counselling former child soldiers and reuniting them with their families.

Together we’ve impacted the lives of over 200 million vulnerable children by tackling the root causes of poverty.*
*Based on data over a five-year period (2012-2016) reflecting direct beneficiaries for both development and humanitarian emergency programmes. This is combined with the number of children where World Vision has contributed to multiple policies addressing causes of vulnerability for children with evidence of at least one of them being implemented. Eliminating for any potential overlap the total number of children reached through World Vision’s three lines of ministry (development, humanitarian and advocacy) is 200 million. The methodology World Vision uses to carry out this calculation undergoes an external audit in order to refine and strengthen how we count our contribution across all areas of our work.
