World Vision UK announces new Chief Executive
International children’s charity World Vision UK has today named Tim Pilkington as its new Chief Executive.
Mr Pilkington, who has served as Acting Chief Executive since January, will oversee the charity’s work in more than 20 countries with an annual budget of over £70million.
He joined the organisation in January 2013 as Director of Finance and Risk and Company Secretary, where he was responsible for all financial and legal aspects of the charity’s work. He began his career as a teacher before training as a tax consultant and rising through the ranks of Shell to take up a Vice President position.
Anna Laszlo, newly-appointed Chair of World Vision UK’s Board, said:
“Our unwavering mission is to transform the lives of children in the world’s toughest places – a task which carries huge responsibility.
“As Acting Chief Executive, Tim has demonstrated the leadership and vision that’s needed to achieve this, and to steer the organisation in a direction which will inspire our supporters and bring maximum impact for children. The Board is delighted to be able to announce his appointment as Chief Executive.”
Tim Pilkington took up the role of Acting Chief Executive at the start of 2015 after former Chief Executive Justin Byworth stepped down at the end of five years in the post. He will take up the permanent Chief Executive role on Monday 20th April.
