World Vision joins new drive to end violence against children

World Vision is joining a global initiative to end child abuse, exploitation and trafficking by 2030 – launched today at New York’s UN headquarters.

The UK Government has already pledged £40million to kick start a new fund to tackle internet abuse.

Cathy Turner, World Vision UK’s Child Rights Policy Manager, said:

“The scourge of child abuse destroys children’s lives in every corner of the world.

“Protecting children has long been a core part of our work, and we’ll play a leading role in this drive to end violence against children.

“The UK Government has set the right example with a new fund to tackle transnational internet child abuse.”

Government ministers from Sweden, Mexico, Indonesia and Tanzania have committed to developing plans to combat violence against children. They include tackling behaviours and traditions that further violence, making schools and institutions
safe for all children, and strengthening data collection about violence and children.

The world’s governments set ambitious targets to end violence by 2030 as part of the Sustainable Development Goals. Working through the Global Partnership, governments and organizations can pool their resources and expertise to accelerate progress toward this goal.
