Inadequate rainfall during the rainy season in seed growing areas of Ethiopia has led to repeated planting and significant reduction in crop production and productivity. The impact of drought of the agricultural sector has been serious with a production loss as high as 95% in some areas.
Given the magnitude of the drought, emergency seed support is being directed to the most affected, seed insecure households with major crops such as barley, wheat, potatoes, maize and haricot beans.
