Pray for Steven

Steven is 17 years old and lives with his parents and two younger sisters. Two years ago, Steven and his father, Leonard (pictured), were attacked by a dog with rabies, ripping the flesh off his father’s hands. Leonard explained, “When the dog attacked me, I lost conscious. My neighbours rescued me and they put the dog to sleep. We were admitted to the hospital for 3 days.”

Steven remembers, “It was the most painful time of our lives. My dad was the main provider in our family but he could not work. The injuries from the dog were so severe we were unable to eat. My mother struggled to feed and dress us as well as provider for our other basic needs. She had to go out and look for extra work to make ends meet.”

Steven’s parents are farmers, growing maize and peanuts, which they sell at markets. The family don’t have very much and it was impossible to pay the hospital bills let alone earn an income, especially without Steven’s dad.

Thanks to your support, we covered the cost of Steven and Leonard’s hospital treatment. Leonard said, “I am really grateful for the support we received from World Vision.”

Steven also wonders. “If my dad and I did not survive from this, I wonder how my younger sisters and my mother would have coped. I am grateful that through sponsorship, we were able to be given the support we desperately needed.”

Steven is very passionate about farming and loves the outdoors. “After my secondary education, I will purse my dreams of becoming a farmer. I want to have good agricultural skills.”

We thank God that Steven and his father are both well again and Steven is back studying at school. Please pray for Steven as he completes his secondary school and works towards becoming a farmer. Pray him and his family will know God’s peace, hope and love surrounding them.

Pray for Kilimatinde

Stewart is 15 years old and suffers severely with joint dislocations in his legs. His joints started to dislocate last year without any reason. His condition is getting progressively worse and it is having a very negative impact on his education, his day-to-day life and his plans for the future. Stewart is losing hope of ever getting well.

Stewart has to walk to his school, which is 6 km away and takes about 50 minutes. He cannot make this journey very often or arrives late because of the challenge he faces.

Steward lives with both parents and has two brothers and one sister. His parents are poor subsistence farmers who struggle to find the means to pay for Stewart’s education and medical treatment.

A few good Samaritans within the community have started to raise funds for Stewart to undergo medical treatment and are doing whatever they can to assist Stewart.

Please pray for Steward so that God may intervene and grant him assistance and healing.

Please also pray for Tekla who is 4 years old. She suffers with swelling of the ear and is in severe pain.  Even though she has undergone two operations there has not been any improvement in her condition. She has very restless nights and hardly sleeps.

She comes from a very vulnerable family and lives with her siblings and parents, who are subsistence farmers. Our child advocacy team in the village is trying to make arrangements to send Tekla back to the hospital for further treatment.

Please pray we are able to get her the right kind of medical treatment. Pray too that her parents will find a sustainable income to provide for their family.

Finally we give sincere thanks to Almighty God for being faithful to one of our children named Anna who is suffering from heart disease. Late last year we requested prayer for her and we are very grateful that she is doing well after getting treatment. Thank you so much for praying with us and ask that you please continue to pray for Anna’s complete healing.

We thank God for our child sponsors and other donors who partner with us to support and care for children and their families. We ask God to bless them and we thank them for changing fear into hope.

Pray for Kisiriri

Evalina is one years old. She lost her mother when she was just four months old. She is severely malnourished. Evalina lives with her grandparents.

The grandparents are too old to take care of her and they need someone to take care of them. It is difficult for this vulnerable family to live a normal life as no one in the family earns an income. We have been supporting Evalina by providing her with nutritious flour to improve her health.

Please pray for Evalina, that God will surround her with his everlasting love and protection and that He gives her family strength and guidance so that they can take good care of her.

Amos is 9 years old. He is suffering from sickle cell anaemia since he was born. Amos lives with his parents, brother and two sisters and the family are subsistence farmers. They live in a house made of mud walls and a mud roof.

Amos has to attend clinic frequently for check-ups and medication. The family are struggling to feed themselves and still pay medical bills.

Please pray for healing of Amos, and pray that his parents find the means to pay for his medical treatment and support the family.

We thank God for our child sponsors and other donors who partner with us to support and care for children and their families. We ask God to bless them and we thank them for changing fear into hope.
